Back in the days when Chesterland had on traffic signal, one drug store and a lot less traffic, Milan Kapel, Sr. and a few other friends saw an opportunity to move East and purchase what is now known as Berkshire Hills Country Club. From 1965 until 1980 it was operated as a "private" country club, when members could enjoy a gourmet dinner and dance in the Clubhouse after a delightful day of golf, swimming or a game or two of tennis, Today, 40 years later, the swim club is still operated as a private club, however, the 18 hole championship golf course and the clubhouse that is one of the premier catering facilities in North Eastern Ohio, are now open to the public.
